Of medieval origin, the church presents itself today with neoclassical forms. Inside there are many works of art and the Diocesan Museum of Ferruccia.
Mentioned for the first time in an act of 1357, the Pieve dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo is located in Ferruccia, in the province of Quarrata.
Initially subjected to the parish of Montemagno, in 1648 it was elevated to the dignity of a parish, gaining more independence. With the increase of the population, towards the middle of the seventeenth century it was enlarged and equipped with four side altars, it was then lengthened and raised in the nineteenth century.
Lost its ancient medieval form, today the Pieve has a smooth facade, decorated laterally by two pilasters, and crowned by a gable cusp. Above the entrance door, the mosaic depicting the Madonna del Rosario made by the Mellini workshop in Florence in 1980. Inside the church are preserved paintings of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, depicting sacred themes. The imposing coffered ceiling was built at the beginning of the last quarter of the 19th century.
Diocesan Museum of Ferruccia
Inside the church there is the Diocesan Museum of Ferruccia, a branch of the Pistoia one, which preserves numerous artifacts dating from the seventeenth to the twentieth century. The collection consists mainly of sacred furnishings and votive sculptures that played an important social role for the local population. Of particular value is a red velvet frontal of Florentine manufacture, praised also during an exhibition of sacred art that was held in Pistoia in 1899.
