The Museum of Ferruccia testifies and enhances the historical and artistic heritage of the area by preserving paintings, sculpture, and sacred furnishings.
The Diocesan Museum of Ferruccia, a hamlet of Quarrata, is located inside the Parish church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo, a building dating back to the second half of the fourteenth century, which underwent some changes in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. It is a detachment of the Diocesan Museum of Pistoia.
Over the centuries the parish has acquired works of art, furnishings, and liturgical vestments, which have only recently been rediscovered and enhanced. The collection is a testimony to the popular devotion and religiosity of a small country church.
The collection presents numerous liturgical furnishings, textile works, such as the frontal in red silk velvet richly decorated with gold and silver embroideries, jewellery items such as chalices, reliquaries and paci, but also paintings and sculptures, both wooden and stucco. Remarkable is the red dress complete with shoes, used to dress a statue of the Virgin. The exhibition highlights the functionality of the various liturgical objects, also thanks to the help of educational panels.
