Taste

To fully enjoy the territory, discover small ancient villages and learn about secular traditions: a journey into the taste of Montalbano.

Tuscany is the land of olive oil and fine wines, the quality of which has become synonymous with good taste and Italian essence throughout the world.

On the slopes of Montalbano, which rarely reach an altitude of 600 metres, excellent products are created, thanks to the climate, the quality of the soil and the experience of the locals.

The Montalbano Oil and Wine Route – Le Colline di Leonardo – officially acknowledged by the Region of Tuscany, winds its way through these lands. It offers a true itinerary of taste, connecting points of food and wine and touristic interest, offering an authentic interpretation of Montalbano.

Products

Protagonists of the route are the products: the IGP Toscano ‘Montalbano’ extra virgin olive oil, from Leccino, Moraiolo, Frantoio, Pendolino, Rossellino and Piangente olives, the Chianti Montalbano DOCG, produced by 180 companies with Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia del Chianti grapes, the brigidini of Lamporecchio, also mentioned by the father of Italian cuisine, Pellegrino Artusi.

Itineraries

There are four suggested itineraries, The Montalbano Ridge, The Lands of Leonardo, Wellness and Nature, Territory and History, all easily accessible thanks to a dedicated multi-guide, a downloadable map and signposts that will accompany you in your exploration of hills, vineyards, olive groves and centuries-old villages.
